Intimacy of God

Q said that she had a spiritual experience from Aretha Franklin and George Michael’s song, “Knew You Were Waiting for me”

When the river was deep, I didn’t falter
When the mountain was high, I still believed
when the valley was low, it didn’t stop me, no no
I knew you were waiting, I knew you were waiting for me

Jenn said that she was running the last 2 miles of a marathon and saw a woman wearing a jersey from her deceased mother’s favorite team. The woman held a sign saying “Go, Jenn, Go”. She felt her mother’s encouragement and finished the race with a personal best.  Former agnostic, Jenn, said, “God is in my business.”

I started my spiritual walk with The Purpose Driven Life in 2005.   I remember reading, ‘Love the Lord God with your whole heart and mind.” And I realized I wasn’t loving him with my whole anything, so I surrendered my way of doing life and adopted a lifestyle of self-inquiry, service, and devotion to a Higher Power. 

Today on my Bible app, the phone pushed Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” It’s interesting that I remembered it differently than it’s written- but the effect was the same.  Nearly two decades into this walk, my God is showing up intimately and personally.  He’s “in my business”

I bet you have similar stories of experiences that landed deeper than your intellect and resonated in your soul. 

This phenomenon of meaningful coincidence is what Karl Jung calls “synchronicity”. 

Some could argue that it’s just in our imaginations, but isn’t that what makes up all ideas?

We are still in the days of magic and miracles if we cultivate the ability to see them.

Through self-inquiry, we become aware of our selfishness. Through selfless service, we combat selfishness.  Devotion to a Higher Power opens a channel to the Divine, giving us directions on how to live useful and contented lives. 

As a result of the practices, we develop intuition, a vital  6th sense that connects us to All That Is.
