You can’t bake a cake unless you follow the recipe. Sure, you can ignore the recipe but you probably won’t end up with a cake. – Anon.
When I first started on my journey, it was so annoying when people would say, “You’re exactly where you need to be.” Honestly, I thought it was condescending. I did not like being where I was nor being told that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
I didn’t realize there was a process let alone did I trust in one. In hindsight, I learned admission of powerlessness, surrender to a power greater than me, self appraisal, reparation of past relationships, and an attempt at creating an intimacy with God – all of those things, over time, were the process.
A business isn’t effective without a process, and neither is spiritual and emotional maturation. When I quit complaining about not being where I wanted to be and simply put one foot in front of the other, I changed. I have learned that there is a process to just about everything. From baking a cake, to learning a musical instrument, there is a process to it all. It’s hard, but when I trust the process, I can grow without as much angst.
That’s what it’s all about, right? Being less angst ridden and more at peace.
Just for Today
Today, I’m going to trust that the people who went though the process before me know what they are talking about. I’ll trust that the process laid out before me is exactly what I need exactly when I need it.
God please help me trust that you are making a path for me. Help me to trust that you are with me and will continue to walk with me as I go through this process. Help me to trust you more.
